A Surprise Birthday Party in SmallWorlds

Hey there citizens. I heard a whisper along the SmallWorlds grapevine recently and was lucky enough to be let into what was a really fun event - a surprise birthday party in SmallWorlds!

A group of friends got together and decided that they wanted to plan a surprise for two friends with the same birthday. Bella Gates, Markus Thorson, Lirima Elen, Stormy Skye and Misty Femme 4 were the organising team. The birthday targets? Mely Cat and Auntcoco Sweettea. Mely and Auntcoco of course had no idea what was being planned behind their unsuspecting backs!

Setting the trap

I spoke with Bella Gates about how they put it all together.

Me: How did you get Mely to follow you to the space.... can you describe it for me?

Bella: I had the space password protected to keep Mely and AuntCoco out. Mely kept messaging me asking for the password and I kept telling her that I couldn't figure out why she couldn't get in! I went to my homespace just to throw her off track but it didn't work very well! I finally sent her the password and told her that I had refreshed and that it should work now. I got Coco there the same way - sent her the password and told her to come see my new space.

Me: After she arrived, what happened?

Bella: We were all waiting at the landing point for them. As soon as Mely arrived we all hit her with love, cheered and whistled. She was pretty stunned because she didn't say very much. Then Coco arrived and we did the same thing for her. She was the opposite of Mely! She was yelling "Thank You" and "You guys are awesome!"

Me: Sounds really hilarious! It was certainly in full swing by the time I arrived! Any tips for people arranging in-world surprises in SmallWorlds?

Bella: Sure!

1. Make your space look like a party space!

2. Don't forget to set your food so it can be eaten.

3. Music! We had 3 stereos going and don't forget to share the remote! Set your stereo so anyone can add songs.

4. Make sure there is something for everyone. We had hot tubs, dancing and games!

Bring on the Bacon!

I also caught up with Lirima Elen, another one of the organisers. You may be wondering why everyone is shouting "Bacon" - I did too! I discovered that it is because Auntcoco and Mely absolutely LOVE bacon. So everyone got into the 'bacon swing of things" for the occasion!

Me: What really touched your heart the most about the party?

Lirima: The amount of love that everyone has for each other. They say it's just a game but you really do care for these people.

Me: What made you laugh the most

Lirima: The whole party was a laugh. One bacon joke after another. It was great to see everyone enjoy everything we worked hard on to create! Not to mention the Bacon billboard was just perfect!

And what did Mely think?

My apologies to Auntcoco, I never did manage to catch up with you as you had gone by the time I arrived at the party, but it sounded like you had a great time! I did catch up with Mely to ask her how her experience had been.

Mely: The party was a total surprise for me. I'd already had a really nice day with all the wishes and gifts i received so i was not expecting anything more. It was amazing and I was stunned!!! All these people started shooting Auntcoco Sweettea and me with love potions and saying Happy Birthday! It felt wonderful, amazing and I felt loved and appreciated by these people I really consider as good friends Guys, thank you is not enough to express how I feel about what you have done for Auntcoco and Me. You rock!!!!

Awww! They spread the party over different islands and you needed a separate password for each island. They of course included a guest book for guests to leave birthday messages. It was so much fun!

I'm sure there's someone in your life you'd like to throw a surprise party for... why wait for a birthday? How about a "you're such a great friend" party? Or a "thanks for creating such great missions" party? Even an "I love hanging out in SmallWorlds with you" party! Get together with some friends, pool your resources and inventories and you can create a really cool time together, just like this group of friends did.
