MIB Monthly Dance Contest

MIB (Making it Better) is a group of SmallWorlds citizens who devote much time and energy into creating lots of cool things for SmallWorlds citizens to have fun with - and the MIB Monthly Dance Contest, run by Ting Keting is their latest offering to the SmallWorlds community!

You can enter in two different categories: Solo Dance and Group Dance, although all Group Dance entries need to be pre-booked. Ting Keting and other MIB dance judges evaluate the dances of entrants throughout the month. The results are announced on the last Friday of each month in the Dance Competition forum thread, and winners will also receive an in-world email.

If you have some winning moves, just send Ting Keting an in-world message and arrange a time to visit the MIB Dance Studio to show her your stuff. Ting and another of the MIB judges will evaluate your dance and you'll be in with a chance to win!

You can enter in three categories:

1 - Solo 'dance off instant win' (watch out for alerts) Win 1k Gold instantly!

2 - Solo dance (enter your dance for main monthly prize) 2k Gold

3 - Group Dance (between 2 and 5 per group - group dance entries must be pre-booked - each participant in the winning group for the month receives 1k Gold)

Ting Loves to Dance!

I absolutely love the dance feature in Smallworlds. I've also been a dance instructor in Uva Back's Psychic Oddessy mission, so when Big Dawg (founder of MIB) started talking about us doing something around Dance, I felt right at home being in charge of the dancing competition!

I've decorated a space dedicated to the MIB Dance Competition. It has a stage for judging the performances, as well as a practice area to enable you to perfect your dance moves in time with the song. Here's a shot of the practice area:

What are the judges looking for?

• Originality

• Using all three dances (for VIP's) and uses of other gestures or emotes to make your dance interesting and original

• Fluency in your moves and dance changes

• How the dance compliments the song of your choice

• Use of gestures, magic, and any other artistic expression you wish to incorporate to make your dance stand out from the rest.

A lot of people come and say 'I can't enter because I'm not VIP and only have one dance move' ...all I can say is that they are much mistaken. We've had more than a few non-VIP's enter our contest and they were fantastic!

They used their emotes and gestures accordingly and even sang along too! Of course our judges take each entrants VIP status into account to make the whole contest fair. I had a short chat with Lyonnie Miller who was one of our non-VIP entrants about how she felt about being involved in the dance contest:

Ting: Hi Lyonnie - how did you feel on stage dancing for the judges?

Lyonnie: Great,awesome, wonderful!

Ting: Did you feel as though you could give a good performance using one dance?

Lyonnie: Yes I thought I did great even with 1 dance

Ting: How confident are you in winning the contest?

Lyonnie: I'm kinda nervous but I'm also hoping and I know no matter what, i did awesome!

Come along to the MIB Dance Studio and hang out; add in some songs and work out a routine that you or your friends can practice together. I would love to see some dancing in synchronization and all in rhythm with cute matching costumes! It's all about having fun, and if you can do that and win gold too even better! There's really nothing to lose.

Bono, whispering dog and MIB mascot has of course been whispering about wanting a pet dance contest so keep your eyes open for this in the future!
