Star Wars Exhibition with Thor Mjolnir

There's a fantastic new exhibition about to open in SmallWorlds. It features a truly impressive list of SmallWorlds artists... some well known, others less so - but one thing's for sure, the quality of the art on show is nothing short of spectacular!

The theme of the exhibition is Star Wars, and it's a wonderful tribute to this incredible series of films. If you're a Star Wars fan, its unmissable. If not, it's still worth checking out, as the artwork is simply stunning. Here I catch up with the show organizer, Thor Mjolnir who is opening the exhibition up on the 30th of June.

Ruby: Hello Thor! It's so nice to meet you and after having seen some of the works that are included in the exhibition I can hardly wait to see them all! Tell me, why did you decide to run with a Star Wars Theme?

Thor: Well having seen other great art shows e.g. the Lord of the Rings, and the Wizard of Oz art shows, I was amazed that no one had used Star Wars as a show theme before. The characters are so colorful and lend themselves well to the graffiti boards, and after doing a few Star Wars art pieces and with some encouragement from others, I decided to go with the idea. I must say the response has been awesome, there are many great artists in the show.

Ruby: I guess you must be quite the Star Wars fan! Out of interest, how would you rank the movies?

Thor: Well as a die hard Star Wars fanatic i like all the stories... from the movies through to the Clone Wars mini series and the Expanded Universe novels & games! I'd have to say that my fave is Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (except those pesky little ewoks... lol.)

Ruby: Have you organized an exhibition on SmallWorlds before?

Thor: No, but i did contribute a few pieces to the Wizard of Oz art show back in February. It has been a lot of fun organizing the show, and I've met some great artists.

Ruby: Will all the artworks be available for sale?

Thor: Well i guess that is up to each individual artist. A few of the artists are generously donating their art to the gallery (myself included) with a view to keeping it as a public gallery for people to enjoy long into the future. If any of the artists wish to take their art back and/or sell their works that is their decision and totally fine with me. You'll need to contact the artist to see if they are interested in selling. If they are not, I am more than sure that like myself the artist will be glad to take commissions.

Ruby: How many artists are exhibiting?

Thor: There will be some extremely talented artists on show some well known some not so well known but rest assured their work is top notch. The exhibiting artists are:

Anchorstar Nevyn, Andi Lim, Andy Beeurd, Chellie Bean, Chloe Theartist, Dezzi Rae, Faerie Princess, Gelwyn McCloud, Hanzie Mintana, Hoofy Stalls, Itis Me, Jeffys Satan. Jessica Bennet, Kota Phillips, Levi Jazzy, Mr Forte, Mviky Flores, Orchids Devils, Paige Feather, Plaguelord Deth, Precious Daivolo, Shan Artist, Tez Pez, The Sven, Tin City, Tunococ Coconut, Yourartist Rob, and of course myself - Thor Mjolnir.

Ruby: Wow! That's quite a list indeed. Are you planning further exhibitions after this one Thor?

Thor: Yes this is but Gallery 1, and I am pleased to say that Gallery 2 is already in the works. The plan is that it will contain the vehicles and space ships from the Star Wars saga.

Ruby: What have you enjoyed about arranging this show?

Thor: I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I have seen some awesome art, met some great people; this experience has been most rewarding. Painting the pictures has also been a lot of fun. I have painted 55 paintings in 9 days alone and Jeffys Satan has done over 20 in the same time frame so we've been really enjoying it, as have all the artists involved.

All the very best to you Thor, and thank you for all the time you've put into creating what sounds like a fantastic tribute exhibition to the Star Wars legacy. Opening on the 30th of June, you won't want to miss it.

And now, the time has come. I just have to say this somewhere. Really, what article about anything to do with Star Wars could ever be complete without this oh-so-famous line!...

"May the Force be with You" ;-)
