Peter and the Wolf - Mission by Oake Cerris - Reviewed by Alfalfa Bokchoy

Peter's not particularly pleased today. Instead of going outside and playing with his friends, grandfather is making him take his music lessons and do the house chores.

But as soon as grandfather's off for his nap, Peter sneaks out of the house and into the meadow. Yes, there's a hungry wolf out there, but that's all the more reason to sneak outside: what if Goose, Bird or Cat need help!?

Peter is a smart and resourceful boy. He'll manage to save Goose and capture the wolf, but will you?

With Oake's generous help, I managed to get an exclusive interview with the wolf, now residing at the zoo.

Alfalfa: Hello Mister Wolf, how have you been since Peter trapped you?

Wolf: Not bad actually. I get fed regularly.

Alfalfa: And you're famous. I bet lots of people come to see you.

Wolf: Yes. I was all puffed up about it at first, but to be honest, Alfalfa, the novelty wears off. I miss my privacy. Some days I can't even dip my feet in the pond without the paparazzi clicking their cameras.

Alfalfa: Those paparazzi. No respect for privacy! So rude!

Wolf: I know!

Alfalfa: So, any plans for the future?

Wolf: I'm biting my time...

Alfalfa: Biting your time? Is this some kind of wolf pun?

Wolf: Well, off the record, my brother will soon join me. We plan an escape.

Alfalfa: An escape from the zoo? But that's impossible! Never been accomplished!

Wolf (tapping his nose): My brother has the entire cage plan tattooed on his back. We'll make it.

Alfalfa: What will you do if you manage to escape? Try to prove your innocence?

Wolf: What innocence? No, Alfalfa. Listen, I've been thinking about a sequel to the mission. Will call it "Peter and the Wolf: The Sequel, Or How Revenge is Best Served Cold and Bloody"

Alfalfa: That's quite a name! You do realise it won't fit the mission name length?

Wolf: It won't? Well, I'll call it PATWTSOHRIBSCAB. That'd fit, right?

Alfalfa: I suppose PATWTSOHRIBSCAB will fit. What happens in the sequel?

Wolf: Oh! Well, the bird goes first. Pesky little thing. Then it's Peter and his grandfather. Don't look so pale. It'll be swift and almost painless. Then if I have room (or tasks) left, cat and goose for dessert. I'll even add some cleaning chores: "Collect the Blood & Guts 1/26" type of thing.

Alfalfa: I... erm. Must get going. Thank you for the interview. Zoo Keeper! Zoo Keeper!! In here!!!! Hurry!!

Wolf: My pleasure entirely. Don't forget to BUMP my PATWTSOHRIBSCAB thread. Or else.

Oake's mission is an adaptation of Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev. If you know the story and the music, you'd love all the extra details he added to enhance the experience. If you don't know the story and the music, all the more reason to try this mission today.

It features two greatly decorated spaces, very smart interactions between picture and sound, and plenty of fun puzzles: from music instruments recognition, to setting up intricate wolf traps. There's not a dull moment!

Travel here to play the mission.
