I &hearts Haiti

Hello citizens.  One month ago, we invited you to lend your support to the people of Haiti, who were hit by a devastating earthquake on January 12, 2010. Haiti experienced tragic loss of life, and there is much rebuilding to do.

We wanted to help, and knew there were other citizens who wished to also. The I ♥ Haiti T-shirt was what we came up with. Here is a link to our original article in the Chronicle, which invited you to purchase one.

As we said in our original story, 100% of all the revenue we received from your I ♥ Haiti T-shirt purchases would go directly to helping the earthquake victims, and we also provided an opportunity for you to vote for your favorite relief agencies. 

The voting has now closed, and here are the results of that poll. We intend to proportionally split the revenue we received from you, the SmallWorlds community, between the agencies you voted for.

How much was raised?

As at 19th February, SmallWorlds citizens have purchased a total of 883 I ♥ Haiti T-Shirts, which means that we have a net total of USD$3940 to donate (this amount is minus any Paypal transaction charges).

Our thanks to those who purchased a t-shirt - we know that your donation will be appreciated by the support agencies concerned. We also know that plenty of citizens have given their time, energy and money to other Haiti Relief efforts, and for that we salute you.

The people of Haiti face a very challenging road ahead, and your efforts and those of others around the world, have contributed to making each step a little easier.
