More Competition Winners!
Loads more great articles have rolled in this week! There were heaps that could have made the cut, but unfortunately I only had enough space for two more winners.
- Mark Gx's article on the Bookstore of Magic mission is published below.
- Mangoloo Lala's story on Missions in Foreign Languages has been published in the Scene in SmallWorlds section of the Chronicle.
Congrats to you both! I've credited your accounts with 2000 Gold each.
This competition has been so successful, I'm going to run it for another week. It will close at Midnight on March 10. Remember, only articles that directly relate to SmallWorlds are published in the Chronicle. There have been some great stories about other things happening in RL, but unfortunately those don't fit my contest criteria. To read about the contest, check under Mark's article, below.
Mark Gx presents:
Wondering about the title? It's a play on words. Are you missing this? In other words, are you playing this mission? Have you heard about it?
This week I have chosen Bookstore of Magic by Gorse Cloud
The mission starts out innocently enough when you apply for a job at Westwood Bookstore and Café. You aren't too thrilled about doing a bunch of chores the owner is too lazy to do; however this job turns out to be magical!
Here is the official description for the mission. Here I am ready to accept the job at the bookstore.
Just look at all these chores the owner is too lazy to do; that I have to do! Makes me mad! It's all in fun; as the mission has a sense of humor about it.
Why is the owner getting shipments from Mysterio's?!? How mysterious!
What happens when a terrible storm comes and you have to spend the night at the owner's place? And what does a crazy woman who came in earlier have to do with all this? What about that mysterious entrance you saw earlier in the bookstore? So many questions...
Wow what is this place?!? Looks magical to me! There is only one way to find out all the secrets and the whole story! Head over to Westwood Bookstore and apply for the job. I promise it's one job you won't soon forget!

Here I am at the end of the mission, which took me 31 minutes, although I am sure it can be done even faster. I was busy taking notes and pictures. Payout and experience are pretty good, and will only rise over time.
This is Gorse Cloud's first mission! I can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve in the future. I recommend this mission for anyone who wants some pretty quick and easy tokens and XP and likes an original story.
An interview with the mission creator, Gorse Cloud
Mark: How long have you been with SmallWorlds?
Gorse: Ha, you made me go diving for my Facebook to see if it has a thing where it tells you when you installed an app. Sadly, I don't think there is, so I'll have to guesstimate... I think I've been on here about... roughly 5-6 months. I think I joined right at either the end or beginning of the month where the Bird of Paradise feathers was the loyalty challenge reward item, so that'd be October... So, yeah, that'd be about right, I think. I started on the Facebook app, but soon switched over to the main site when I realized how much more convenient it was.
Mark: Where did you get the idea for Bookstore of Magic or what inspired you?
Gorse: Heh, where the idea came from is something that was a really, long complicated process. I'd been inspired a lot seeing the other missions that people had been doing, so I was toying around a lot with the idea of making a mission of my own. I liked the idea of a story mission, but I didn't have the funds to really do much. Bookstore of Magic was actually gonna be a chore-doing mission at first, and the only room was my home space. Then I was able get some gold, which let me expand a little and made me realize I now had a lot more options. I know that I wanted to incorporate the bookstore into it, so in my mind, that seemed to have a more fantasy vibe, and I wanted it to be something the reader would stumble onto. It really just came in bits and pieces, but there was one point where it all just seemed to solidify in my head.
Mark: How long before we see Bookstore of Magic Part 2?
Gorse: For the next part? I've set a personal deadline at two weeks from today, but I'd love to get it up sooner. The main issue has been getting the new space ready, but it's getting pretty close, I think.
I'd like to thank Gorse Cloud for taking the time to answer these questions. I'd also like to thank everyone for taking the time to read this and for supporting missions. I seriously think the Chronicle needs a Mission Review Section regardless if I am it or not. Thanks!
Until next time when I ask you: Are you mission this?
Competition: Have Your Article Published in the Chronicle!
Closing date: Midnight March 10th
This competition is easy! Just upload your article / picture / funny snippet / or whatever to this forum thread.
If I publish your contribution in this column (or in the Scene in SmallWorlds section of the Chronicle), you'll win 2000 Gold!
I'm hoping for something funny, informative and entertaining. Or you can also do a more serious article. You can review a mission or space, or even talk about your SmallWorlds friends (remember to make it about stuff happening in SmallWorlds). Try not to make it too long, and it's a great idea to use a spellchecker if you have one.
Good luck!
